Shaping the Future of the Internet: Google & Interactive Advertising Bureau’s Internet for Growth Publisher Meetup | Contractors | 30 seconds mom

When your Google friends invite you to their super cool offices, you know you’re going to have a great day. But the Internet for Growth Publisher Meetup from Google and the Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB) was even better than I expected. I had a blast and learned a lot, and I want to share the experience with you.

The meet was a one-day event at the Google office in downtown Chicago. The intimate group of just 15 editors created a tight-knit community where we were able to connect with other creators, share learnings and insights with our peers, and discover why our voices and stories are essential in shaping the future of Internet.

The event was hosted in partnership with Internet for Growth, an independent coalition led by the IAB to help elevate ad-supported small businesses in the United States. The IAB “enables the media and marketing industries to thrive in the digital economy. Its members include more than 700 leading media companies, brands, agencies and technology companies responsible for selling, delivering and optimizing digital advertising marketing campaigns.

Internet for Growth “supports the transformative role the ad-supported Internet plays in empowering America’s small businesses, helping entrepreneurs bring their ideas to life.”

I’ve spent most of my career building online businesses and communities, so helping to ensure the continued growth and success of my industry is a top priority. That’s why I’m grateful to Google and the IAB for spotlighting publishers like me and investing in our future.

Part of this investment was to organize a day for editors to come together in a fun and inspiring environment. With activities like storytelling workshops (where we created our own “six-word memoirs”) and reader engagement workshops (where we learned best practices for delivering the best user experience), we dove deeply into improving our messaging and our value. proposal – keep our readers in mind. Google has also provided a personalized audit of each publisher’s website, so that we can improve and grow.

Other memorable moments include lunch in the Google employee cafeteria; admire the Chicago skyline from Google’s rooftop terrace overlooking the city; enjoying a break in a real Chicago “el” train car that Google has transformed into a relaxing lounge; have new portraits taken; and learn about the incredible team of Googlers and editors who are part of this thriving ecosystem.

Oh, and I can’t forget the swag! Each publisher received a Google tote bag and a custom hat personalized with their site URL. I think Google and 30Seconds go pretty well together!

30Seconds is one of many American companies that used the internet to connect with their customers in 2021. According to a survey conducted by The Data Catalyst Institute (DCI), in partnership with the Connected Commerce Council from November 29 to December 9, 2021, 92% of US-based small business owners said digital tools have been helpful to them in interacting with customers, with 87% using digital tools to find new customers.

Proud to have been selected to represent the State of Illinois in Google’s 13th Annual Economic Impact Report, we are honored to have 30Seconds included in this exhilarating experience, and we are thrilled and grateful to be a part of this thriving publishing community. I came away with even more determination to continue to develop 30Seconds using digital tools, so that we can improve the lives of even more people around the world.
